It was in the 1980’s that this trilogy was first published as a single volume. Taken
together it amounts to over five hundred pages but none should be scared off by that,
rather people should make an effort to obtain a copy and read it carefully. If you do
so, be prepared for a stiff message of warning but it is vital to receive its challenge.
Still available new today from Jesus is Alive Ministries its author decided that it
should not be significantly updated even though, in some aspects European history
has turned corners not envisaged when it was first written. The author passed away in
2002 but both he and his advisors felt that the message of the book still stood despite
the changing scenario, in fact, the main issues elaborated remain. The central
message is a call to the people of Britain to remember their Christian heritage and to
return to God. Let the churches awake first! But the book has wider application than
to those in the United Kingdom. It is prophetic in the best sense of that word and
speaks to the condition of western nations; it unfolds history, especially British
history and points out the hand of God in significant moments throughout the last two
thousand years. God is shown to be the God of the nations, the One who takes
account of the rejection of Him and His ways and judges in due course having long
shown the patience of His mercy. Moral and spiritual decline is obvious in Britain;
already the results of that decline are evident all around. The similarity between the
nation of Israel and its ruin as recorded in the Old Testament form a solid backdrop to
current national happenings in Britain. This author is compelling in his
argumentation; he has mined British history in order to expose the graciousness of
God at crucial times. For many British readers some of the historical detail will be
intriguing and perhaps American readers might be prompted to examine their own
history to see if they can trace the hand of God at crucial moments. To whom much
is given, much will be required and it is certain that much was given Britain from
God and to the USA too and it has been systematically squandered and the judgments
of God are already being manifested.
