THIS LITTLE CHURCH WENT TO MARKET

This book was first published in 2006 and is still available in new editions.  It is a short and sharp (about 140 pages) analysis and critique of the dangerous slide many ‘successful’ churches are taking.  The seeker friendly church, the purpose driven church, the entertainment oriented church are examined and their essential stance and emphases critiqued against the background of Biblical Teaching and some aspects of church history.  The result is a compelling argument for pastors, leaders and people to re examine what they believe, what they are doing and where they are going.  Is what is happening truly Christian?  Is it essentially christianised worldliness?  Basically an ersatz concoction that is a superficial shadow of the true.  This book is not chapter after chapter of negative criticism.  It is rather a factual examination, there is little or no overstatement, it is honestly presented and demands attention.  The crossless Christianity of many highly public church leaders and the apparent success of their churches is lauded and followed slavishly almost, by churches all round the world.  It is a revolution in carnality robbing the church of its Life with God through Jesus Christ and the power of the gospel of His cross and resurrection.  A short read, short succinct chapters, readable, relevant and worthy of serious pondering, repentance and obedience to the Lord and His truth.
